Shelter Cove is directly across the road from Palmetto Dunes. There are are villas and low-rise condos complexes surrounding the marina, many are short-term rentals but the wonderful amenities, activities, shops and restaurants also attract permanent residents. Shelter Cove is also a major Hilton Head Island attraction located on the “sunset” side of Hilton Head Island. Even though Shelter Cove has a different atmosphere, Shelter Cove is considered part of Palmetto Dunes and its residents and guests have access to the beaches and other Palmetto Dunes amenities. There is even a bike path underneath Hwy 278 that connects the Shelter Cove and Palmetto Dunes.
Shelter Cove Harbour is 15.5 acre marina, which is one of Hilton Head Island’s largest and deepest marinas. There are 170 boat slips in Shelter Cove Harbour. Shelter Cove offers many water sports. Water Sports and activities include: deep-sea and inshore fishing charters, sport crabbing, sail and power boat rentals and sightseeing and nature cruises.
