Once you have gone over the Hilton Head bridge, Windmill Harbour is the first community on your right. Windmill Harbour is actually located on Jenkins’s Island which is a separate island connected by Highway 278 to Hilton Head Island. Windmill Harbour is a 172-acre private residential community planned for 500 residences (340 homes & town homes, over 85 lots, and 258 boat slips). Windmill Harbour overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway with gorgeous views of the saltwater marshes. A 15-acre inland harbour (some homes have attached boat slips) is one of the community’s most attractive features. Windmill Harbour is also the home of the South Carolina Yacht Club and a 250-slip marina and lock system (1 of only 3 harbors with a lock system on the East coast). The South Carolina Yacht Club (SCYC) membership is optional, but not required for property ownership. Membership offers fine dining, tennis and club social events. The South Carolina Yacht Club is one of Hilton Head Island’s premier yacht, tennis, and social clubs. There is a POA owned community pool, small parks, tree covered brick walking paths, 2 ocean piers which are excellent for dolphin watching and beautiful sunsets. The SCYC members also have access for fishing and kayaking off the dock.
